I chose this picture from the gallery because I think it is a good composition, I love the scar written in, and I think that the black and white adds effect. I like that this picture is semi telling a story, it makes you wonder. You see a physical scar, but the man's facial expression implies there is a mental story behind the picture. To make my pictures gallery work, I feel I need to tell more of a story, make the people who see my pictures wonder about them.

This photo is nice and I like the black and white edit on this photo. The black and white edit makes the photo look dreary which what I think is the point of this photo. This effects my photo because I'm going to edit some of my photos to a black and white edit to make my photos look sad and dreary because that idea is in a lot of my photos.

Gallery Trip

This image reminds me of my image of foreclosure for my last project. I liked this image because the background grabs my attention. I like to think of it as really nice stores but there is a guy standing outside in dirty clothes because it sows the contrast between rich vs. poor. That is similar to the theme I want to show in my project. I will my my work gallery-style-work by making the images more than just the base layer.

This photo really stood out to me, my project is on stereotypes. I felt that this photo really represented stereotypes because people aren't always what they appear to be. That is represented in this photo by the women holing up the sign saying "i am not my skin tone", just because she is african american doesn't mean all the stereotypes are true.

The photo I chose was of the girls standing against the window with the dog. I chose this photo because it is set up very nicely. Everything seems very intentional. The light coming through the window behind the people wearing dark clothes and a dark colored dog also adds a bit of contrast. My photos for this project are going to be very intentional to every detail with lots of color. I noticed that all the photos in the munnerlyn are quite dark and I want to showcase something different and colorful.

What is this girl looking at? Something good or bad? These are the questions that i asked when i saw this photo in the munnerlyn.  This photo is successful because it makes me want to know what is going to happen next. This photo also creates a sense of suspense. To get my own photography into the munnerlyn i plan on using creativity and outlandish ideas to succeed.

why it works

This picture works because because of the contrast from the top left corner to the bottom right. The light takes up the whole corner and fades back into the trees and cars. While the man and the store are dark. Then the repetition of the shops brings them together really nicely. My project works because it shows what really happens. That it's not all about playing the game there is so much else leading up to it.

While in the Munnerlyn, this photo really caught my eye.  I like this photo because the message is very meaningful to me.  This photo is successful because the lines are straight and I like the line between her eyes and the writing.  I like that this photo is black and white because it makes it simpler.    I think that my photos could be successful in the gallery because I will watch my cropping and make sure it is tight and the lines are straight.

I think this image was done successfully and it stood out to me. The words "we're all stories in the end" is truthfully what everything turns out to be. No matter what you're doing it will end up being a story in the long run.The figure of the man on the left gives it more value than if it were just the words. I think the simplicity of this image is what makes it stand out and what draws attention. For my project, since I'm doing dance I want to try to show that it's more than just moving; it's about passion for the art and telling a story through movement. In the end of each dance, there is always a story. I'm going to try my best to portray this throughout my project.

The photo I picked from the Munnerlyn that reinforces my project is a picture of an old man's collarbone with the word scar. He looks unhealthy and aged so it goes with the theme on how you think you should treat yourself vs. how you should treat yourself. Although he is aged he could have better health. My photos will be mature enough to be in the gallery because they will be impactful in a common issue that is not talked about daily. My photos work with self love and appreciation.

I liked this photo for the story behind it. I wondered how did the girl get a phone if she lived in a century where they didn't have one? One of the reasons I liked this was because it was kind of a clash between vintage, and modern day. I liked the old timey car in the background, and how the dress she is wearing goes along with the theme. It almost seems like the model is a flash from the past. 

My project will be Munnerlyn worthy because it will have a story behind it, and it will be filled with emotion. This will make people wonder why the models are reacting to something,  and wonder how I captured the emotion in time.

This picture really caught my eye when I was in the Munerlyn. I think this picture has a strong composition.  The color on the arm adds character to this picture. In my pictures I would like to express character like this photo. I also feel like this photo has a lot of meaning that I would also like to express in my photos.

I chose this photo from the gallery because I feel like it is very intriguing. The way the girl is positioned in the image is confusing and makes me wonder how she is really positioned in the original photo. This image keeps my attention and my eyes are constantly looking all over. My eyes first went to the way the photos are positioned and how her face looks very calm. I feel like this photo is very confusing to most people and makes them also wonder about the girls position and how the overall image is supposed to be.

I like this photo because it is simple. I really like that it is black and white because it shows simplicity. It is an interesting photo because of the way it was taken. I like that it is close up. The focus on the eye also makes it interesting. I will try to relate these characteristics to my project by taking pictures of simple but interesting topics that represent Florida and North Carolina.

Photo project / gallery

I chose this photo to represent my project because of the display of emotion in the photo. The point of my project is to view the many emotions of a person while listening to different genres and emotions of music. The photo obviously shows emotion, but theres is most likely more to the photo, like why she is screaming and crying. Also the object of the photo could have a deeper meaning than what it was shot for. In my project the emotion that is shown is 100% authentic, if someone is crying it is do to the song being played. If they are laughing it is a genuine laugh, the main object of my project is not to stage the emotion but to let it happen naturally. None of the photos that I am going to take are staged, saved for the fact that I asked them to listen to the song and told them that I am going to shoot pictures of their emotions.

I like this picture because it really shows the emotion that someone would have. I like the fact that it looks like something is scary behind those doors and I like that suspense. The black and whiteness adds something unique to it too. The cropping is also well done with not having to much space left over on the left and right and I like how it is cropped right above the eyes. Her eyes looking off to someplace different is also great because it makes me wonder what she is looking at. I like that she is not looking straight at the camera. I am going to use similarities like this in my project because I am going to have some candid pictures and you will not know the whole picture and what is happening. I will also have the cropping done right so the pictures have no awkward lines and such.

Favorite Photo From Gallery Skinner

I chose this photo because I like the story it tells. I ask questions like, "was there a family there?" and "what is the story behind this photo?". It makes me wonder why it is like this. It is also an excellent photo because it is great quality and the lines are even with each other. I like how it is dark in the photo, and it relates to the quality of the house itself. if it was lit up better, the atmosphere would not feel the same and it would not make me as interested. This is a good composition.

This photo applies to my project because I am going to focus on getting great quality photos. I am going to focus on making these photos go beyond what they actually show. For instance, I will make my photos make the viewer think about the photo and why it is there. I feel that my project has a lot of potential.

The reason I chose this photo is because it seems like she is hiding and makes me wonder why. I also like this picture because it gives me ideas about how to make my passion project more interesting. For example, one of my pet peeves is when people do not shut the door, this gives me a better perspective on how to take this picture in a more intriguing and unique way; instead of just taking a picture of an open door. After looking at this photo, I have a better idea of how to make my pictures "gallery worthy". I am going to take more pictures with different view points, and spend more time planning out my pictures, but also be more abstract than my other projects. Lately, i have been less creative than i could be, and i plan to use my creativity fully this project and the rest of the projects from now on.

The reason I chose this photo is because i like the contrast of the time periods. At first glance the girl is just siting on an old car, but the more you look at it you see she is holding an iPhone. The girl's, car and surroundings make it seem as if this photo was taken in the past, but the iPhone causes the person to think this photo was taken during present time. The way i think i can make my project good by seeing this photo is being original with the surrounding of where i take the picture, try and capture perfect lighting, and try to not just take a picture with a simple meaning, but take pictures that are going to cause people to think deeply about the true meaning of the picture and project.

This picture is good enough to be in the gallery because you never stop looking. This person is looking at the book while all these pages are flying around her and she is not being distracted. Your eye keeps on moving and is intriguing even if the is just boring . In my photos I will show the contrast of boring facial expressions and something crazy going on.

There many different elements that make this photo great. One is the unity that is felt when you look at it. It feels complete. Looking from left to right you can see how it evolves from the cars all the way to the window shop. The man makes this photo interesting because you see that it's a portrait but you cant tell exactly if it's environmental or candid. I think this photo is overall very intriguing. This will relate to my project topic because this photo is contradictory in the sense that he is homeless and yet he's still smiling. My project is about problems but also finding the good in problems.

This picture is gallery worthy because their makes you think. The girl seems like she is in her natural environment and she is happy. She is not smiling but you know she is happy. The waves look perfectly placed with the girl. I think that my project is gallery worthy because i am going to show my natural enviroment. I will be very mindful of proportions and how i crop my photos, and i will be telling a story with each of my photos. i will show feelings, strength, and dedication through my pictures.

I believe that this photo is successful. The colors also stand out in the window because everything seems so gloomy and dull but the less dull colors in the window make the portrait stand out from the others. The line of the window is also straight and the cropping near the road makes it look like it is going on forever. The shops also look like they continue for a while. I think that if I have a solid composition, complimentary colors, straight lines, and a meaningful message that I may have a chance for a photo to be put in the gallery.

This photo I feel is successful because you can feel the bond between the two people. The girl's expression in her face seems pleasant and happy. So, you can feel the care between the two people. The colors are also successful in this photo. The dark background and the dark clothes go well together and it makes the patches of bright green leafs stand out. To make my final project successful I plan to make my concept clear through my colors and the expressions of the people that I use in it.

This photo is successful because  the word "scar" gives the ability for the audience to interpret a story which makes the photo more interesting. Also the man's facial expression shows pain which is relevant to the word. The black and white is also successful because  it changes the mood of the photo to a more sad one. My project will be successful because i am taking an everyday problem that teenage girls face about clothes and showing the alternative through photos. I will use color concepts that we learned in order to match the high end clothes with my low end ones.

I think this image is gallery quality because of the effect created by the black and white on the gas station. It makes this image have a somewhat negative connotation while including the different elements of the image and bringing different things into the focus of the image. I think I can use the example of this image in my project by putting a high value on things that happen and things that are seen in everyday life.

Munnerlyn Photo Response

I think that this photo is so successful because its raw and its truthful. Now, most photographs we see in the media are of people who are "perfect" and happen to be in a "perfect position" in a "perfect location". There is a 90% percent chance that you could see that everyday. This photo, is something you can and will see anywhere at any time. My project is the same way. I want my project to be truthful and raw, not fake and set up. My project represents real people, in real times. I think this idea is what will make my project successful.

Art Inspiration

This work of art inspires me because the scenery is so beautiful. A lot of nostalgic value is invested in mountainous landscapes for me specifically, so this really held great weight for me. I love snow as well, so this piece of work really got me thinking about how i can effectively portray nostalgia in a series of photographs. I want my photos to bring the same nostalgic value as this does to me. I will try to portray nostalgia the best i can through my images.

Art Appreciation

When I was walking up to this picture, I was certain that the pages were actually dollar bills flying around in the air.  Although I was slightly disappointed when I realized they were simply pages of a book, I still enjoyed the picture.  I think what made this picture successful was the contrast of movement.  You have a girl who is completely stationary with pages flying all around her.  Because of this, it makes me wonder how the picture was captured.  This bit of mystery keeps the viewer interested then they typically would looking at a picture that doesn't have this element.  For my photo I want to have this aspect as well, where the viewer is attracted towards the photo because of some extra element.
